Each month we will be taking a deeper look at a "life app"  and stories in the Bible that go along with it. Each week we will leave with a bottom line to sum up what we had learned that Sunday morning.

UNIQUENESS

Discovering Who God Made You To Be So You Can Make A Difference

Week 1:

We kick off the month in 1 Samuel 17 and rediscover the familiar story of David and Goliath. David was the newly anointed king of Israel. He saw that Goliath was bullying God's people, and he knew that God would help him defeat the giant. Instead of wearing the typical armor, he decided to use what God gave him through his experience as a shepherd. With a rock and a sling, he knocked Goliath to the ground and defeated the Philistines.

Bottom Line: God made you to be you. God uniquely made each and everyone of us. On top of that, God's given us unique experiences that we can use to help others. We pray that kids will understand how their unique story can impact the world for God.

Week 2:

In Genesis 12, we find a man named Abram, who eventually we come to know as Abraham, the father of God's people. But long before that, God called Abraham to go on a journey with many unknowns because of a really BIG promise. Abraham was willing to follow God and go wherever He led. In the end, God made good on each of the promises He made to Abraham.

Bottom Line: God made you for an adventure. God may not call us on a journey to another country, but at some point, God will call us to do something out of our comfort zone. We pray that kids will learn to trust that God will keep His promises to us, and that no matter what happens, He made them unique for whatever adventure comes their way.

Week 3:

In Acts 8:26-40; we learn more about an encounter between Philip and an official from Ethiopia. As the Ethiopian searched God's word and had questions about faith, Philip pointed him in the right direction, and showed him that Jesus was the answer to those prophesies from long ago.

Bottom Line: God made you to follow Jesus. God wants to have a relationship with us and made a way for that to happen through Jesus. This week, we pray that kids will realize that no matter who they are or what they've done that God made them to have a relationship with Him when they believe in Jesus.

Week 4:

Next, we head to Acts 16:11-15 and meet a woman named Lydia. Paul and Silas were traveling around and telling people about Jesus. In the City of Philippi, they headed down to the city riverbank where they though they would find people worshipping God. While they were there they met Lydia, a wealthy business owner. Lydia used her gift of hospitality to make Paul and Silas feel welcomed. She used her gifts to help others feel loved.

Bottom Line: God made you to love others. God has given each of us gifts that we can use to show love to others. We pray that kids will realize that part of what it means to be created in God's image includes reflecting His love to the people in the world around them.

Week 5:

Next, we head to 1 Corinthians 12 and learn more about the Gifts of the Spirit. We each have a role to play in this world. God gives each one of us a unique gift through the Holy Spirit to help make a difference in the lives of the people around us.

Bottom Line: God made you to do good. God doesn't give us these special gifts just for us. He gives them to us, so we can help Him change the world and tell others about Him. We pray that through this passage, kids will start to search for and discover how God has uniquely gifted them to help Him do good in the world.

Parent Cue

Each month we want to keep parents engaged with what their kid(s) are learning during our worship time Sunday mornings. The Parent Cue is a great way to stay connected.

The Parent Cue is a Morning Time, Meal Time, Drive Time and Bed Time cue for each month. By following these simple Cues based on Deuteronomy 6:7—“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”—a parent can make the most of everyday moments to instill faith and character in the heart of his or her child.
